The Last Words of Moses Review

What would you do if you lost your only child—and then discovered that someone close to your family might know what really happened?

That is the mystery at the heart of The Last Words of Moses, an original African drama series from Good Movies Africa.

The story follows Chief Daniel Okoro, a wealthy businessman and devoted father whose life changes after his only son, Moses, dies under mysterious circumstances.

The series combines family drama, mystery, suspense and emotional storytelling across seven episodes.

What Is The Last Words of Moses About?

Daniel and Moses share a close father-and-son relationship. Despite his father’s wealth, Moses tells him that what he really wants is simply for his father to be around.

But after Daniel leaves for a business trip, everything changes.

He receives the devastating news:

“Moses is dead.”

When Daniel returns home, he wants answers. Instead, he finds more questions.

The family’s gateman, Papa John, appears to have witnessed something that night, but his confusing explanation only deepens the mystery.

Then investigators discover that the family’s CCTV cameras stopped recording at exactly 11:47 p.m.

Someone had manually disconnected the system.

A Mystery Full of Suspicion

As the investigation continues, more clues emerge.

The gateman reveals that the person he saw entering the compound had a key.

Daniel discovers that several people have keys—including his younger brother, Uncle Emeka.

Then Ngozi, the housemaid, remembers something even more important: Moses had a phone that disappeared after his death.

The phone is eventually found.

Inside is an unfinished recording from Moses.

He tells his father that something has happened and that he no longer knows who he can trust.

Then he says:

“There’s someone close to us…”

The recording ends before he can reveal who.

What Makes the Story Interesting?

The Emotional Father-Son Relationship

The relationship between Daniel and Moses gives the mystery an emotional foundation.

Daniel isn’t simply looking for the person responsible for his son’s death. He is trying to understand what happened to someone he considered his greatest blessing.

The Constant Questions

Every discovery creates another question:

  • Who killed Moses?
  • Why was the CCTV disconnected?
  • Who entered the house?
  • Why did Moses have a secret recording?
  • What did he discover?
  • Who was he afraid of?

The seven-episode structure gradually introduces these clues and ends with a major unanswered question.

The African Setting

The story is rooted in a Nigerian environment, with a modern Nigerian mansion, realistic African characters, Nigerian accents and natural Nigerian Pidgin dialogue.

This gives the mystery a distinctly African identity.

Themes in The Last Words of Moses

Beyond the mystery, the story explores themes that many viewers can relate to.

Family Comes First

Daniel’s relationship with Moses reminds viewers not to take loved ones for granted.

Don’t Trust Blindly

The story raises questions about whether the people closest to us can sometimes hide important secrets.

Listen Before It’s Too Late

Moses was trying to communicate something important, but his father only discovers the significance of his message after tragedy strikes.

Money Can’t Solve Everything

Daniel has wealth and security, but neither can protect his family from every problem.

These themes are also reflected in the story’s stated moral lessons.

Final Review

The Last Words of Moses combines emotion, family drama and mystery to tell a story about a father searching for answers after losing his only son.

Its strongest element is the unanswered mystery surrounding Moses’ death. Just when one clue appears to provide an answer, another question emerges.

And the ending leaves viewers with one major question:

Who was the person who entered Daniel’s house that night?

The story is set up to continue, with The Last Words of Moses Season 2 teased at the end.
